WAS IST DAS?
Das Palodium ist eine Mischung aus einer Podiumsdiskussion, einem grieschischen Kaffeehauspalaver und der Worldcafé-Methode. Es wurde vom IPG für das Institut Solidarische Moderne entwickelt, welches wiederum den Namen erfunden hat.

WAS PASSIERT?
Das Palodium ist in drei Phasen aufgebaut. In der ersten Phase geben diejenigen, die auf dem Podium sitzen, kurze Impulsbeiträge zu einer sehr konkret formulierten Frage. In der zweiten Phase diskutieren die Teilnehmenden die Frage in spontan organisierten Kleingruppen. Die wichtigsten Diskussionsergebnisse werden festgehalten. In der dritten Phase werden dann die Diskussionsergebnisse im gesamten Auditorium vorgestellt und gegebenenfalls diskutiert. Die drei Phasen können mehrmals wiederholt werden. Eine abschließende Diskussion und die Aufbereitung der Diskussionsergebnisse runden das Palodium ab.
Es verbindet zwei zentrale Anliegen: Zum einen schafft es die Möglichkeit, dass sich in kurzer Zeit viele Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer einer Veranstaltung über zentrale Themen austauschen, sich also dabei kennen lernen und ein erstes Stimmungsbild der ganzen Gruppe zu diesen Themen entsteht (die möglicherweise zum ersten Mal zusammen kommen). Gleichzeitig erreicht das Palodium, dass eine ausgewählte Gruppe von Menschen, zum Beispiel diejenigen, die eine Initiative vorbereitet oder initiiert haben, von allen gehört und wahrgenommen wird und sie ihr Grundverständnis als Impuls in die Gruppe geben können.

Was ist das?

Die Charette-Methode wird insbesondere im städtebaulichen Kontext und bei der Regional- und Architekturplanung verwendet. Bei dem Prozess steht die andauernde Beteiligung der Öffentlichkeit im Vordergrund. Abstract

The field-process-model is a theoretical framework the Institute for Participatory Design developed to understand generative design processes as dynamic interactions of forces in a field. The development of this model became necessary after we encountered numerous theoretical and practical problems with the application of our former, more systemic oriented, understanding of pattern languages and design processes. The field-process-model explores the idea that a field with its forces (as used in numerous pattern languages) is the spatial description of a process, which in turn is the temporal description of a dynamic field. The model gives us a good understanding of how generativity and emergence unfold and how we as designers can foster these qualities in our design processes. Beneath the question of the emergence of new (design) ideas, the model also helps to investigate qualities such as immergence, crisis or bifurcation and of cultivation for generative processes. With the framework the field-process-model describes, we can develop applicable tools and strategies for actual design. Workshop at the PUARL Symposium

Throughout our 14 years of design practice we strive to design sustainable, whole environments together with the people who are going to use and live at these places. We started by working with landscape architecture and permaculture design, assisting eco-villages and projects. Then we developed approaches influenced by design thinking and community organizing and assisted institutions in design focused change processes. Pattern languages are a part of our Institutes everyday practice. I found this short introduction on how participatory design works in architecture via Twitter. I think its a very good overview and the insights are very close to our work and findings at the IPG.
